As the mist clears out, the majestic tropical rainforest soon reveals itself. Amongst others, the forest provides protection and regulation of water and soil. It also acts as a carbon sink where it absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and stores it in tree trunks, roots, leaves and soil. The forest also provides for communities living within its vicinity, as a resource for sustenance and livelihoods.
